Naval Oy – one of the leading suppliers of all-welded ball valves to District Heating industry since 1975

Flowserve Naval Oy is one of the world´s largest manufacturers of all-welded ball valves. Today, exports account for more than 80% of our turnover. Naval ball valves are increasingly popular in the developing markets of Eastern and Central Europe, where our products are used as a closing and control device for thermal energy power stations and district heating networks. The market area includes Finland, Scandinavia, the European countries, Russia, China, and North America.

The extensive distributor network in all markets guarantees fast and reliable delivery to customers despite the geographical distance from the factory in Laitila, Finland.

Other markets we serve include various industrial applications as well as natural gas distribution and certain steam applications. Naval Oy has been the leading supplier to a number of rehabilitation projects of district heating networks. Naval Oy became a member of the Flowserve Corporation in 2002 as a part of the acquisition of Invensys Flow Control. This has strengthened our position in the global market.

Naval Oy specializes in most efficient manufacturing and supply of welded ball valves

Today the company employs 140 people and the annual production capacity is more than 1.000.000 valves.

Naval Oy operates in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality system since 1992 and ISO 14001 Environmental system since 1999. All valves are manufactured to meet the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive, 97/23/EC) requirements. In valve design such methods as 3D modeling, FEM analysis, flow analysis and corrosion analysis are used to reach an optimized valve construction quality to satisfy all customer requirements.

Ball valves by Naval Oy are fully welded, free from all service and there is no need for any spare parts. This design facilitates an easy installation and isolation. All valves can be equipped with electrical or pneumatic actuators and the valve with actuator can be delivered according to the requirements of the ATEX directive (94/9/EC) to equipment group II if specially required.

The sizes of Naval valves range from DN10 to DN600 and pressure ratings from PN16 to PN 40, also Class 150 and Class 300. The operational temperature range is from -40°C to 200°C (steam to 250°C).

We focus on the operating reliability and freedom of maintenance of our Naval ball valve products

The structure of Naval ball valves is designed so that the force created by the pressure in the piping keeps the valve tightly sealed both internally and externally. The “floating ball” mounted between two springloaded seals under pressure moves against the seals.

The stem is blow-out proof. Due to the construction of its sealing surfaces, sealing actually increases under pressure. Thanks to its characteristics, the Naval ball valve forms an excellent closing device in district heating pipelines and thermal (HEPAC) pipelines.

In industry Naval ball valves are used in innumerable applications in which they have replaced other valve types like gate valves, plug valves, globe valves and sliding valves. Welded valves offer a number of advantages over ordinary three-part valves. For instance, the cost of installation is lower, since Naval ball valves have no parts that require tightening in place.
